Florence, Rome and recommendation for a third coastal town

Hi, can you recommend a third town to visit for a weekend stay not far from our departing city of Rome? We are visiting Rome first, then Florence and would like to add a coastal town to the itinerary?

Porto Santo Stefano between May and September, is a little off the track for most non-Europeans. High season is July and August (read that as crowded) and it would be quite dead October to April so trip timing is a factor. Car desirable. Offshore is Isola del Giglio. Famous for the cruise ship that ran aground there in 2012 but lovely for beaches and hiking.
