Florence - restaurant with ambience and a view

My husband and I will be in Florence for 6 nights during October 2014. One afternoon or evening we want to enjoy a celebratory meal in a restaurant with a view of the river or rooftops of the city. Because it is a celebratory meal I would say a budget (not to exceed) 75-100E per person. Any recommendations for a restaurant with outstanding service, food that exceeds expectation and a view for a celebration in Florence?

Sesto on Arno on the 6th (sesto) floor, hence the name, of the Excelsior hotel probably fits your requirements. Not quite sure you can keep it under €100 euro p.p. (That will largely depend on what wine you order), but the best 360 degree view of Florence is there. If you sit on the side of the Arno you'll see the clever thing they did with the water on the side, which blends with the view of the river below. As far as the food is concerned, well, nice presentation, top service, but when it comes to taste, my mother, just a couple of miles up the river, could do a better job.

Another cheaper and maybe tastier option with a view of Florence (from a distance) is the Reggia degli Etruschi in Fiesole. Can't see the river from there though.

Roberto,

Does your mother take reservations? Seriously, thanks for the tips. Maybe a lunch special at Excelsior and later during our visit an evening in Fiesole.

Any other restaurant favorites or tips in Florence for a special celebration?

Golden View is on the river on the south side not far from Ponte Vecchio. They have tables overlooking the river, but you would have to talk to them in advance to ensure getting such a table.

Modern ambience, the food is ok - the clam spaghettini is very good. I think it's a bit expensive but it is right on the river. We've had good service there for a birthday dinner at which there were 7 people. Lots of people like it and it gets very busy.

I also like the restaurant mentioned above in Fiesole but even though it is high, you don't necessarily get the view.
