Want to take train into Florence and then get a rental car. What is the best way to get a rental after arriving at the train station?
Know that I can go from train station to Airport or a location in town. There will be four of us with luggage.

All major companies have offices on Borgo Ognissanti, a street about 10 min walk from the station. I use a consolidator to rent one:

They work with the major companies, I generally go for their Europcar or Hertz deal, since they offer better prices once one includes the zero deductible insurance option.
As Roberto states, most rental companies have an office in Borgo Ognissanti. Another option is taking a tram from the Alamanni side of station to via del Sansovino, where in front of the tram stop there is a large parking lot with rental offices. if you do not want to walk to Borgo Ognissanti with your luggage, this could be an alternative idea.
