Would it be possible to take a "long" day trip from Florence see Pisa early morning, then head to Vernazza(Cinque Terre) tour around the town and head back to Florence in one day???

Cathy we did Pisa as a daytrip from Florence and after our stay in Florence headed to the C.T. for 4 nights. It is about 1 hr by train from Florence to Pisa, 1 1/2 hrs.from Pisa to Vernazza and 3 1/2 hrs. back to Florence. Yes, you could do this but I wouldn't. I think a better option would be to go to Pisa and then on to Lucca and save the C.T. for another trip. When you are in the C.T. you will want to visit the other villages too and hike some of the trails and you will not have time to do this on such a short visit. We have always enjoyed our trips more when we don't try and squeeze too much in. Have been to the C.T. 3x, most recently last summer, and we have enjoyed our time here but a quick visit wouldn't do it justice.
