Florence, Pienza and San Gimignano

Hello,
We are 6 people - 2 parents, 2 grandparents (one disabled), 2 kids (age 5 and 8), planning a 10 day trip in Tuscany in April.
-We're arriving in Pisa and plan to spend 2 to 3 nights in Florence (is that too much? We just want to rest a little and see a couple sights before moving on to Tuscany). As we leave Florence we will rent a car to drive to Pienza.
-Can you share your favorite kids/family activities in /around Pienza? Any great cooking classes? Gelato making? Also interested in cheese and wine, etc., all that good stuff.
- Should we stay a couple nights somewhere in the middle between Florence and Pienza, or just drive straight to Pienza?
-We are staying 4 nights in Pienza so we can relax and do day trips. Is that too long?
-Is San Gimignano a good stop on the way from Pienza to back to Pisa? Is it better as a day trip from Pienza or should we stay in San Gimignano a couple nights?
Thank you very much.

3 nights in Florence is ideal

others may be able to suggest those activities

drive straight and use Pienza as your base

4 nights is good

you can visit San Gimignano on your way from Florence to Pienza, or as a day trip from Pienza or en route to Pisa. It’s your choice. I wouldn’t stay 2 nights. It’s always better not to split night stays in too many different accommodations especially since they are so close to one another. Checking in and out of accommodations, packing and repacking, and all that goes with any move is time consuming.

if you put a pound sign in front of the paragraph you get a very very big font like this.

Oh Roberto that made me laugh!!

I agree, no reason to stay overnight in San Gimignano — you’ll be more comfortable resting in Pienza in your hotel (or, even nicer, in a comfortable agriturismo just outside Pienza) and visiting San G as a day trip.

Sounds like a wonderful trip!

It's not a pound sign (£) that does this. It is a hash symbol (#).

Two hashes (##) is smaller blue text.

and 3 hash's (###) is smaller again and black.

Two countries separated by a common language. I grew up (in the US) calling # a "pound sign". Pound as in weight, not pound as in the UK currency. "Pound sign" was the common term for the button on a telephone number pad with that symbol, and I still see things like "4#" used to mean 4 pounds (4 lb.).

Note about San Gimignano: Florence is (mostly) flat; Pienza is flat. But San G. might be a challenge for a grandparent with a disability. The public parking is down the hill from the center of town, and visitors must walk up a somewhat steep road and then up a cobbled pedestrian street to get up into town. You may want to take a look at it on google maps to see what the walk might entail for your group.
