Florence - Passepartout Family Annual

My wife & I will be in Florence for 30-days. It makes sense for us to purchase Passepartout Family Annual for unlimited access to Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens. My question is whether there is advantage to pre-purchasing annual pass online, or whether just to purchase in person? In following online steps to purchase, it appears I will still need to visit ticket office to pick up my annual pass.

I'd appreciate advice from RS travelers who have purchased Passepartout Family Annual pass.
Thank you!

Were you able to get a pdf barcode for admission and skip the ticket office?

I had sent an email to the Uffizi about the Passepartout Family annual pass and was told I'd have to pick up the document at the ticket office.

Did you have any issues using the annual pass?

Would you know if you need a timed ticket to see the Palazzo Pitti-Appartamenti Reali if you have an annual pass? The web site is not clear.

Bottom Line: It's better to physically go to ticket office.

Here's what happened to me. Online I purchased family annual pass for me and wife. Then I printed annual pass. Going to Uffizi, they really didn't recognize document. My name was on document so they would admit me, but not my wife. They recommended we go to Uffizi ticket office to correct situation. After only a short wait at ticket office, I showed them the document and explained the situation. They requested ID for me and wife. Then they produced two hard plastic annual pass cards, one with my name and one with wife name. Each card is size of credit card and has bar code and name. Now we were able to skip entry line. We could walk to entrance, show our pass card (which is recognized!) along with ID, and then we were in. Cards also allowed entrance to Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and Bardini Gardens. And yes, with pass card we could enter all areas without reservation.

Thanks for the follow up post. This topic comes up from time to time so it's good to get confirmation on the ground.

Enjoy Florence!

Thanks for the reply. Very helpful.

Regarding the Appartamenti Reali at the Palazzo Pitti, they seem to have different entry requirements than the Palazzo Pitti generally, so I wanted to confirm. See below, particularly "compatible with time-slot availability".

BTW, you also get admission to the Pietre Dure museum, which is lovely.

=======
Visitors who already hold a Gallerie degli Uffizi ticket permitting access to the Palazzo Pitti, or a Firenze Card, may book the Royal Apartments Supplement with no additional admission or booking fee, compatible with time-slot availability.

Gallerie degli Uffizi tickets are: Biglietto singolo Palazzo Pitti (Individual Palazzo Pitti Ticket); Passepartout Pitti-Boboli (Pitti-Boboli Passepartout); Passepartout 5 days (5-day Passepartout); Passepartout cumulativo annuale (Annual Combined Passepartout); Passepartout Family (Family Passepartout); with a 5-day Passepartout ticket, the tour of the Royal Apartments must coincide with the day planned for your visit to Palazzo Pitti.

Richard,
Thank you! I was unaware of Pietre Dure Museum. I am unable to connect to museum official website. Perhaps it is temporarily down? Also I was oblivious to Royal Apartment access. Using link you provided I now see ability to book free supplement ticket for timed access. Great information! Thanks again!

Did the annual pass include the Bardini garden? The website implies it doesn't, but the post above suggests it is included. We'll be in Firenze for 10 weeks and are looking at this pass.

Yes, entrance to Bardini Gardens is included. There's a small gallery/museum located within the gardens. Entrance to gallery/museum is not included in Annual Pass. That can be purchased separately, but it really wasn't all that memorable.
I highly recommend Annual Pass!!
