Hi, We will be in Rome on a Friday, and Florence on the following Sunday.
The question we have is whether we should be in Rome or Florence on the Saturday. Any opinions about which town is better on a Saturday? Thanks!
Better in terms of what?
By way of example, the Vatican Museums are open Monday-Saturday for the same hours each day, and the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence are open Tuesday-Sunday for the same hours each day. So it's not like you're going to miss out on either of those whether you go on Friday or Saturday. Probably there is not much of a difference for either place whether you are there on Friday or Saturday. The way to go about this would be to make a list of what you hope to see in both cities, then go online to get hours for both places and see if there is any major difference, and that should help you determine which day will be best where.
Florence is small and Rome is big. Extra day in Rome.
The towns are equal on a Saturday, in the sense that it is NOT the case that one is "closed" and the other is "open," or one is crowded and the other empty. So, choose based on which one you want to spend more time in. As already said, if you're unsure, Rome is larger and has more to see and do, so choose Rome.
Grazie, tutti. You've helped us decide to stay in Roma. Ciao.
