Florence or Pisa > Paris Flight in May; Why so expensive??

I am looking to book a one way flight from either Pisa (preferably) or Florence to Paris on Sunday, May 17. When I looked at these flights a month or more ago, I swear they were ~$90 each. Now they cheapest one from Pisa is $265! And that flight goes to Paris Beauvais which appears to be 1.5 hours from Paris center! There's a nonstop to Orly in the afternoon and it is $412. Flying from Florence isn't any better.

If we fly on Monday, there are options between 100 - 200. What is going on that Sunday that is driving up prices??

A quick Google question shows the French Open is beginning the next day. Ascension Day long weekend is ending. Who knows exactly what triggers the airline algorithms. Can you travel on Saturday instead?

Weekend flights— specifically flights on Fridays and Sundays— will normally be the priciest as demand for travel peaks then. During special events, demand spikes and so do prices. Your best bet is to travel on May 18 which currently has direct 1:50 flights starting at $108 from Pisa to Paris.

I don't know if this is an additional pricing factor or not but Ascension Day falls on Thursday, May 14: start of a public holiday + a long school-break weekend in France (14th - 17th) Some poking around the net turns up mentions of this being a popular opportunity for short holiday trips. Maybe a dynamic pricing effect?
