Planning a day trip to Florence on Sun. Apr. 1, 2012: Will shops/markets be open and can you advise on general hours? Need same info regarding restaurants. Previous info on site is from 2008 and may be outdated. Many thanks!

Well I'm planning a trip with my sister in September but doubt there would be much difference opening/closing wise. The Dumo is open (but not the dome) 12 to 1700 on Sunday. The Baptistery closes at 1400. Churches have various hours due to mass. 2008 info is probably reasonably on target. Restaurants? This is a tourist town. Most will be open. Some shops maybe not.

Most of the shops in central Florence are open on Sunday. The San Lorenzo food market is not open but the open air vendors outside on the surrounding streets are open. You won't notice much difference from a regular weekday inside the historical centre.
