Hello, I will be visiting Livorno on a cruise in June and wanted to know how easy it is to travel from the pier to Florence for about 5 hours and then take the train from Florence to Pisa for a quick stop to see the leaning tower. We will then need to take the train back to Livorno and it seems that it is only a 20 minute train ride from Pisa to Livorno. I am guessing that I will need to take a cab to the Train Station and was wondering if anyone has done this on own and can confirm approximate cost for taxi to train station and train fare to Florence, Pisa and back to Livorno. Princess cruises does offer a Florence/Pisa on your own tour which departs at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. Boat does arrive in Livorno at 6AM, therefore we are losing two hours. Tour cost is $85.00 per person. Any feedback or guidance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for your quick reply. I would have thought that the train ride would be quicker than the bus ride. I was told that Princess does not offer a shuttle from the pier.
I really would prefer to do this on my own rather than go with a tour. In your opinion, if we dock at AM and depart at 6PM will I have time to spend a few hours in Florence and then head to Pisa for a quick peek at the tower and then return to the pier?
