Florence on May 1st

I booked a trip to Florence and just realized that one of the days I'll be there, May 1st, is a national holiday. Will anything be open? Any ideas on how to entertain ourselves? Or more importantly, feed ourselves (will restaurants be open?).

If there is ONE thing that you can count on in Italy- you will never go hungry! Florence, with it's huge tourist draw, will certainly have plenty of food sources on 1 May. Have a great trip.
