looking for a fair price/real-deal shop in Oltrarno for women's leather boots. We'll be staying very close to the Piazza Santo Spirito. We're traveling light and hope to avoid having to pack boots. We always bring an empty duffel so we can check a bag going home. Recommendations and some idea about prices appreciated.

I'm not an expert in shopping in Florence but based o many trips to italy (several to 'Florence but long ago,) you are not going to find any huge bargains on leather goods within a city. Maybe in an outlet shop but this means traveling out of town, in Florence this would be to the Montevarchii outlet mall and the nearby Parada outlet. https://firenze.themall.it/en/brands
But those malls feature high-end designer wares; maybe you'll find things at good prices but it's hit and miss and I don't think. you want to wast hours going out there.
In the city, you have the big-name leather shops, like you see In all major cities, and at the outlets, and you will spend less than back home with your VAT refund but you are still looking at hundreds of euro for high-quality leather boots.
And there are the smaller shops where three hundred euro might get you a decent pair of leather boots and you do get the VAT refund; bring your passport when you shop so you can fill out the paperwork:
