Florence October 2025.

Hi, everyone.
We're going to be in Florence this October(2025) for four nights. We need some suggestions on things to do. At the moment, we have one day, a Duomo Tour (including climbing to the top). On the next day, we're planning a day trip to Pisa and Lucca(Pisa in the morning and Lucca in the afternoon). Nothing else! Thank you in advance for your help.

I really recommend doing a tour of the Uffizi Gallery and seeing the David at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze. It would be a shame to go to Florence and not see those.

There's also plenty of amazing restaurants in Florence. I recommend downloading the Michelin Guide app. Any restaurants recommended on there are going to be great, even the ones without stars.

Edit: I also loved this Tuscany Day Trip from Florence. You get to see Siena, eat/drink at a vineyard, and go to San Gimignano.

We LOVED the Museo Storia Naturale (la Specola)! https://www.sma.unifi.it/vp-245-la-specola.html

It’s full of utterly amazing stuff and if you are partial to museums, animals/plants, natural history, well… I think it’s a must.

The Central Market (Mercato Centrale) is a dizzying array of fabulous produce, meat, sweets, snacks, restaurants, and places to dip in for a coffee or a glass of wine. Lots of places to sit down and feast are available upstairs. Highly recommended. https://www.mercatocentrale.it/firenze/

Benjamin, you mentioned in a previous post that you'd been to Florence in the summer of 2024. What attractions did you visit on that trip? Also, what sorts of things are you interested in?

The Duomo Museum is great, and generally very uncrowded and has wonderful artwork by masters such as Donatello. When we were in Florence last May, we saw several golf cart tours, looked like fun to me; when we got back to the US, a couple we know confirmed that golf cart tours are indeed a good time. If anyone in your family enjoys shopping, Florence is a wonderful town for this activity. I picked up two beautiful handbags near Santa Croce last visit, as well as a couple of pieces of gold jewelry. The Oltrarno is also recommended for shopping, dining and strolling. Don’t forget to stop for gelato frequently!

One of the highlights of my Florence visit last October was the Orsanmichele- (church and museum in two separate buildings), with some amazing views of Florence from the museum's upper floor. If you enjoy churches, art, history and architecture, this won't disappoint. The building's exterior is beautiful with statues in niches (replicas) most of the originals are in the museum. It reopened in 2024 after an extensive restoration.
I visited the church first and was a wee bit disappointed, as I was in search of the original statues. Upon exiting I discovered they were in the museum across the street.
