Florence museums reservations required before leaving US?

I am returning to Italy after 30 years, will be spending 5 days in Florence 10/17 - 10/22/2019. If I buy my Firenzecard the day I arrive, will I be able to make reservations that day for the Uffizi and Accadamia, to attend the museums in the next few days after arrival?

Do you know you can buy the Firenzecard online and in advance? You can then call the phone number on the Firenze website to reserve for the Uffizi and Accademia.

Yes, I don't have easy access to international calling. I am hoping to do it all once I arrive in Florence. Wondering if the museums have openings for the next day, or if they are likely to be totally booked.

Ellen, I've no firsthand card experience with availability of openings for the 2 museums mentioned, once in Florence, but did some digging and the very last post on this thread (from doug.burgwin) may be helpful:

He evidently didn't have any issue. A poster on Tripadvisor also reported having no issue on her April 2019 trip.

"I was in Florence last week and used the Firenze Card.... I had my pick of times, like literally could pick any day and any time using my card. I bought the card and immediately after was able to get a 9am reservation the following day for the Accademia and 9am the day after for the Uffizi. They give you your tickets right there and when you get to the museums you walk right in and skip the ticket line. (Yes you still have to go through security but it's super fast)."

Someone reported on their blog having no issues this past summer.

"The first thing on our Florence to-do list was to get a Firenze Card....We were able to get reservations at the Galleria degli Uffizi for the Uffizi and the Accademia. Unfortunately, we couldnt get tickets to climb the Duomo."

Aside from other posters as well finding slots for the duomo's cupola being completely booked (with the card, you can't make reservations for that one one prior to arrival in Florence) I've yet to see a complaint about completely booked-up slots for the Accademia and Uffizi, although I would advise making those reservations as quickly after arrival as possible for best selection.
