We will be going from Venice to Florence Sat, May 1 (I know,a holiday, so probably just Rick's walking tour, but a chance to slowly "experience" the city) going back to Venice on Monday, May 3rd. Any ideas on the best way to get reservations for Accademia and Uffizi for Sunday the 2nd. Reading Rick's Florence guide it sounds like online means are rather sketchy.

Perhaps your hotel will make reservations in advance for you. That is my plan when I visit in June.

If your hotel won't do it for you, and you have trouble getting through on the phone (some have had trouble), for an online reservation to both,

But it's so easy to phone! For me the easiest is to purchase a phone card from Costco then after the card pin, dial 011.39.055.294.883. Just be sure to call during business hours in Florence. Before I phone I figure out what day I'd like and the approximate times, giving us plenty of time to get to each sight.
