Florence Museum Reservations

The last time I went to Florence (2011), my hotel prearranged all my reservations for date and time. Now it appears this is unnecessary with the Firenze Card. So, I’m wondering how well the new system works – just walk up, present card, and walk in? Could it be that simple?

Well, it lists 72 sites you can enter with it. So as long as the sites you want to see are on the list , within the 72 hour window, you should be good to go. Maybe do a cost comparison of what you plan on seeing and the cost from their sites to the 72 Euros for the card. Just like the Museum Pass in Paris. But, unlike the Museum Pass in Paris, it only allows you to enter the site once, no repeats.

Yes, for those museums that you would be most likely to reserve, such as the Accademia an Uffizzi, the Firenze Card allows you quick entry through a separate line, avoiding the long line for ticket buyers. There may still be a short wait if the museum is full to capacity, since they limit the number of people inside. You can also skip the line to climb the dome of the Duomo. Note that the Firenze Card no longer covers public transport and has added a few more museums to their list (https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/guidebook-updates).
