Florence Museum Question

We'll be in Florence in July and I have a question about the Florence Museum Card. The week before we'll be in Paris for a week and I've purchased the Paris Museum card. I thought the one for Florence was a bit pricey (were a family of 5) and I'm afraid my teens will be a little museum weary once we arrive in Florence. I found a less expensive museum card if you become a member of the Uffizi. It doesn't cover as many sites but the main ones.

Has anyone done this? How did it work for you?
Thanks!

My husband and I were just in Florence early May, and we bot the Friends of the Uffizi pass. I highly recommend it. For 100 euro for family, it's a lot cheaper than the Firenze card. We skipped the line at the Uffizi and Accademia. Plus the money goes to supporting the Uffizi Gallery. On the day of our visit, we went to door 2 of the Uffizi and purchased our passes, then went right into the museum.

The Uffizi membership is what I do each time I go to Florence. It works very well. A useful benefit is that it allows multiple admissions to a single museum, while the Florence card just allows one admission to each museum. A couple of short visits might work better for teens than a single longer visit.

The membership gets you into all the state museums in Florence.

Question for previous posters: did you buy the membership at the museum or on line > The only one I found was 1000 euro - so I must be doing something wrong?
Also is there a family membership? Thanks

Regarding the how… Each time I've joined I've needed to print a form off the Internet, complete it, and fax it to the museum. The details are on the website. When you arrive at the museum, go to the guard at the entrance where everyone is in line, and ask for the membership office. The office will provide you with the card.

Regarding the cost, make sure you're finding the Italian organization on the Internet, not it's US counterpart. The American-headquartered Friends of the Uffizi is a much more expensive organization to join, and it supports things like restoration of specific art works.

I did not print the form off and submit via internet, as I indicated in earlier post, went to door #2 at the Uffizi, bot our family pass for 100 euro (there is a small office there for just that purpose) and then went directly into the museum from there.

Love love the Uffizi member card. We got in everywhere no waiting. See the list of museums there are a lot. My 8 &'10 yr old went everywhere and were able to keep,up.

I like the AMici card because you can go several times to the same site.

Children under at 18 are free in FLorence museums so no point buying Firenze cards for them anyway.
This used to apply only to EU residents but now applies to all kids.

The Friends of the Uffizi card worked really well for my husband and I: highly recommend!
We bought ours at the welcome desk at the Uffizi when we got into Florence:

Your one problem is that it only covers two adults and children under the age of 18. If one of your teens is 18 or older, you'd need to purchase an additional youth pass for € 40,00. This is still a big savings over the €72 euro pp Firenze Card (if that's what you are comparing).

This pass is especially nice if you're going to be in Florence for over 3 days and, unlike the Firenze card, allows multiple visits to any of the attractions it covers: nice for breaking a large museum into 2 visits if desired. Do be aware, though, that it doesn't cover entry fees to every attraction - such as Santa Croce or the Baptistry at the Duomo. Even paying for those things individually, you'll still come out ahead, though. Florence is such a walkable city that we wouldn't not have even used the transport piece of the Firenze Card.
