Florence - Monday Day Trip

I’ll be in Florence for a week and see most things are closed on Mondays. What day trip to a close by town would be best on a Monday? Or other recommendations for how to spend Monday in Florence, like maybe a walking tour?

Thanks!

On two trips I have gone to Lucca on both Mondays, it was fun to ride the bikes around the walls!

There are some museums open on Mondays including the Bargello, Brancacci Chapel, and Medici Chapels. Churches are also open including the Duomo and Santa Maria Novella. Also one of my favorites, Orsanmichele, is open only on Mondays. In fact, I’d put all of these among my favorites in Florence. I would suspect that they may be more crowded on Mondays, since the major museums are closed.

The Benozzo Gozzoli chapel in the Riccardi-Medici palace is also open on Mondays --- one of my favorite things to see in Florence (I skip the whole rest of the palace!).

Maybe Siena, though I don't know about the operating schedule of any indoor sights you might want to see there. Another possibility would be to look into one of the small-group trips to the Tuscan countryside. I've seen multiple recommendations here for Tours by Roberto, and I think there are some departures from Florence as well as from Siena.

What about things to do at night in Florence? We don’t drink but any music or shows or outdoor events that would be recommended?

Walk, bus or taxi up to enjoy the views of the city from piazzale Michelangelo at sunset.

In the evenings, we enjoyed scrolling the city center and came across musicians entertaining crowds every night.
