Hello
We are planning a trip to Italy in November 2019. I just found out the Florence marathon is Nov 24- the day we were planning on arriving there.
Should we switch our plans? Or not a big deal?
Thank you
Nikki

You can decide if its an impediment to your plans that day
I was in Florence during the 2017 marathon. Many streets were blocked off and several bus routes were curtailed. You can move around the city, but not without obstacles. How much you'll be impacted will depend on what time you plan to arrive, where you plan to stay and what you were planning to do that day.
Hopefully you are scheduled to arrive as late as possible in the afternoon.
The race starts at 8:30 and for the entire morning most of the city center is off limits to vehicles and even pedestrians in the affected streets. The afternoon most streets reopen, except for the area near the Duomo which stays a mess for longer.
