Florence Lodging with charm, character, maybe a little view?

I am bringing my 16-year-old granddaughter to the Cinque Terre but will land in Florence, and I'd love for her initial impressions to be of the charm and character specific to Italy as I remember it. I see online a lot of places that are presented as upgrades but often that means lodging that could be in Minneapolis or Denver just as well as Italy.... would prefer to spend less than 200 euros, but mostly care about the authenticity; have no problem with stairs and bathrooms down the hall … just clean, safe, and walking distance to Central Firenze. Any chance anyone has found this special place already? Thank you!

Take a look at Hotel La Scaletta - it's right by the Ponte Vecchio with a great rooftop view for breakfast.
Also, Hotel Torre Guelfa has an awesome tower to watch the sunset. We took our daughters here for their first trip to Florence.
For a magnificent splurge, Villa la Vedetta is amazing - right above the Piazzale Michelangelo - you can walk down to the Piazzale and then walk down to the Arno. The terrace and pool overlooking the Duomo is unmatched.

I am SO appreciative of the responses I got on this: I checked them all out, but some were already fully booked for the dates I needed; I ended up with our first night at the Hotel Torre Guelfa, and the last night before returning home at the Hotel La Scarletta; thank you so much for your recommendations, all! Both lodgings pushed me a little bit, price-wise, but I was ultimately very pleased, as I think they are both going to be wonderful memories for my granddaughter, which of course is worth more than $$$! Thank you all again for your help!

We recently booked this beautiful, newly renovated apartment in Flornece, through Airbnb:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/22477166?guests=1&adults=1

The owner has 2 apartments in this building on the same floor.
This apartment has a better view, in our opinion.
Very helpful and accomdating owner, with superb guest reviews.
Far less than 200 euros per night.
Easy walk to all sites, the Mercarto (great place to eat lunch and dinner!), the train station, and located next to The Acadamia.
Plus you get the service of Airbnb to back you up.

Don't forget to go to the beach in Monterroso when in CT...bring your suit.
Bar Davi is great for lunch and dinner in Monteroso, right on the main street in the Old Town...
Great bakery right accross the street.

Have a great trip!
