Trying to plan a trip from Florence Italy to Lisbon Portugal next spring. Are there special requirements? Anyone done it via train?
Requirements? Check Google Flights, Kayak, Skyscanner, etc
TAP has one daily flight from FLR to LIS.
You haven't given us much information to work with. Do you mean a multi-day overland trip with stops along the way? What kind of special requirements are you envisioning?
For train schedules in Europe, bahn.com is the best site.
Yes chani. Overland as much on the coast as possible, multiple days? 2, 3.
It's a long trip by train. Florence to Marseille along the coast is a full day with several changes. You then need to spend the night in Marseille, to take the daily direct high speed train to Madrid the following morning. And later that day, the overnight train from Madrid to Lisbon (a very decent journey if you book a sleeper or berth). So if you leave Florence in the morning of Day 1, you can't get to Lisbon until the morning of Day 3 if you go via the Mediterranean coast.
That's an incredibly long train ride even when broken up over a couple of days. Instead of spending around 30 hours on trains, maybe take a train as far as the French Riviera and then fly to Lisbon from either Nice or Marseille. TAP Portugal airline flies nonstop from both cities. You'll still see a lot of Italian and French coast while avoiding the long inland part of the train journey.
