Florence Italy - places to stay

Sorry, I should have been more clear. We will be staying 2-4 days in October. Looking for suggestions for places to stay, possibly even with a Rick Steves discount for a few days in October 2021. We would like to be near Accademia or Duomo.
Thanks in advance,
Billie

Go to Perfect Italy’s website to find a property to rent in Florence. We have used London Perfect twice.

We've also rented an apartment each time in Florence, different places, but always in the Oltrano neighborhood, across the river from downtown. How long are you staying? If more than a couple nights, other options to check are www.vrbo or www.booking.com or www.vacanzeinfamiglia.it/?lang=en , then search for Florence locations.

Billie, whether to rent or stay in a hotel might depend on how many nights you'll be in Florence. The cleaning fees can add to the price up if it's a shorter versus longer time, and a kitchen can be a waste if not planning on using one. It might also depend on if you're first-timers or not? Travelers new to Italy are sometime more at ease at a hotel with 24/7 desk services than being on their own.

For several years we have been staying at the Hotel Pendini, arranged through booking.com

I would recommend Hotel Albani Firenze on Via Fiume in Florence. It is on a quiet side street and is an easy walk to the Duomo. It is convenient to the train station also. We were able to walk to the Accademia, the Uffizi, and the Ponte Vecchio from this hotel. Our room had a small terrace overlooking a courtyard. The breakfast was very good.

Several people on this site have recommended Hotel La Scaletta to me. It is in Rick’s book and in the Oltrarno.

Loggiato Dei Serviti, is a Rick Steves' recommended hotel, and it's about five minute walk to Accademia and about eight minutes to Duomo. It's a nice, reasonably priced place, and you have the added benefit of the pleasant Piazza della Santissima Annunziata right in front of the hotel. I have been to Florence several times and this is my favorite. LINK: https://www.loggiatodeiservitihotel.it/

Here's another recommendation for the Hotel Loggiato Dei Serviti although it's been 11 years since we stayed there.

We love https://www.7florence.com/en/about-7florence/. It's nicely decorated, clean, comfortable, and great location. It is located directly across the street from the train station so schlepping luggage isn't a problem. There is even a McDonald's next to it for those who can't get enough (we can). It's an easy walk to the sights and our go-to place in Florence.

We rented an apartment in Oltrarno, very near the Ponte Vecchio.
Even though the apartment was charming, and the owner was very friendly, I wouldn't recommend it.
Every morning, well before daylight, the vendors could be heard rolling their horribly loud carts out for the day, across the cobblestones below us. Between that and loud arguments that seemed to go on late, most nights, between a couple of the locals, we never had a decent night's sleep in Florence.

So, Oltrarno? Yes, definitely! But be sure to get a place away from the Ponte Vecchio and the other popular spots.

We loved Hotel David. Was a recommendation from Trip Advisor, I think. Breakfast and heavy nighttime appetizers are included. Delicious and filling. Great rooms with king size beds. I’d go back again and again.
