Florence, Italy Attractions

Hi Everyone. I just received some excellent advise on purchasing passes to main attractions in Italy but now my question is regarding Florence. Where do I purchase museum/attraction "head of the line" passes to all the beautiful places in Florence?

Thank you.

Identify all the popular tourist sights online. Then Google'em. Ticket websites are very easy to find.

If you don't already have it you really should get Rick Steves Italy Guidebook. Covers all of these questions and more.

Take a look at the Firenze Card- (google it) hard to say if it will be of benefit to you not knowing exactly what you want to visit or how long you will be in Florence.

Some venues require a prebooked timed ticket, others do not.

Hi Joanne,

I found this in my Rick Steves Florence & Tuscany guidebook (which I highly recommend getting a copy for Florence):

Online: You can book and pay for your Accademia or Uffizi visit via the city's official site (€4/ticket reservation fee — click on the gray "B-ticket" strip). You'll receive an order-confirmation email, which is followed shortly by a voucher email. Bring your voucher to the ticket desk to swap for an actual ticket.

He also gives you other ways to book the Accademia and Uffizi such as by phone or through your hotel.

Hi all,

Just so you know. A reservation is now required for the Accademia and the Uffizi even if you have a Firenzecard. This is a brand new development, so it isn't in the 2019 guidebook.

I don't think there's any way the Firenzecard is worth it without that flexibility.

I may have read this incorrectly, but from reading Rick Steve's ticket information for the Uffizi I got the impression that there could be a line up even to swap your online voucher for a ticket. I will be in Florence for a pitifully short time and am hoping to avoid any sort of line-up if at all possible. Anyone have any information about this?

True, and I'll agree with Kevin that this seriously diminishes the value of the Firenzecard. The only two museums which will have ticket queues worth worrying about are the Uffizi and Accademia. Timed-entry tickets for both are available through the official B-ticket website:

http://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/uffizi/default_eng.aspx

There is also a combo pass for the Uffizi, Boboli Gardens and Pitti Palace that can be a convenience. You choose this option as "Intero Cumulativo 3 giorni" under timed-entry selections for the Uffizi on the B-ticket site. More info here (it's listed as "PassePartout 3 Days" on this page):

https://www.uffizi.it/en/tickets

Understand that no tourist with passes or advance tickets can skip the queues for security checkpoints at attractions which have those.

If still interested in the Firenzecard, please read the fine print - especially under the FAQ section - carefully:

Kathy thanks so much for the information on the Combo pass.

You're welcome, embee33. And do understand that with that 3-day ticket, you will be choosing a specific day and time slot to visit the Uffizi but you can do the Pitti and Boboli any time during the life of the ticket: no reserved times needed for those two.
