My family of 4 is traveling to Florence in early June for 5-6 days before taking train to Venice. What are your favorite options for staying in Florence? Hotel, VRBO, Villa within 5 miles of city center, etc. I spent a week in Florence 17 years ago… staying in great Villa outside of town. But it was cheaper then…, not so sure now.
Appreciate any thoughts you may have for a great experience.

It's a personal choice, and it depends on what you plan to visit, but if you prefer a villa outside of town, then you'll need a car.
For a family of 4 staying more than 2 nights (you plan on 5-6 days), however, I'd opt for a rental apartment (VRBO or AirBnB), rather than two hotel rooms (quad rooms are harder to find, and you'd be cramped anyhow)..
