Florence in seven days

Hello.
I am thinking about signing up for the Florence in seven days tour. How much money should I take with me?

As with many things in life, this all depends on your personal style. Florence is one of the more expensive cities in Italy, and also one of the best for shopping!

The RS tour will cover the basics--hotel, 3 dinners, the big sites. You have to pay for anything extra you see in your off-time. For instance, we went to the Leonardo Da Vinci museum (corny but fun), climbed the Duomo, visited Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella--both charge entry fees--and so on, all of which had to be paid for out of our own pockets. Plus, of course, gelato!

The most common advice on this board, and the way that I personally do it, is to take a small amount of euro (50 or so) from the U.S. with you. Then, hit the ATMs (bancomats) when you arrive in Italy and withdraw your daily maximum, which varies by bank. This will likely give you enough spending money to cover all of your small purchases for the week, and if you have any larger expenses, you can always return to the ATM later.
