Florence hotels with triple room

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel in Florence that has triple rooms. As seems typical in Europe, it is hard to find a room to accommodate my husband, my teenage daughter, and myself. We would like something centrally located and not too expensive (<400euro per night.) Thank you for any suggestions you might have!

I'll be the first to recommend an apartment. I've rented VRBO 68776 several times. It has two bedrooms, two baths, and is in the Santa Croce district. If that one is too big, you may just want to do a search on VRBO or Airbnb. If you're staying for less than 4 days you may not want to "mess with" an apartment, however.

Are you asking for a suite with three bedrooms? Or a room with three beds? Triple bed rooms are fairly common.

An apartment is a good idea and probably budget friendly.
However, if you rather a hotel that is centrally located I would recommend Hotel Casci. Breakfast is included, its family run and in a great location. Book on-line for best prices. Triple rooms rates are from €100-190 per night.

I should have mentioned to look at booking.com or venere.com. These are the best hotel websites for Europe. The reviewers must prove a stay in the hotel to give a review, so they're believable. If you type in: Rooms 1, persons 3, you will get a room that has either three twins or one double/queen and one single. This is how I found a room when we took a grand daughter.

I still like the privacy an apartment provides if I'm staying long enough. Usually much less expensive, and I like having the option of having some food in the fridge and cooking breakfast.

Hi Jane,
A good number of RS listings in Florence offer triples for much less than 400€ per night. We have booked Soggiorno Battistero (www.soggiornobattistero.it) for us and our tween son for 155€ per night. En suite bath and includes breakfast. It seemed pretty typical of the offerings--the room has one double and one single bed. Haven't stayed there before, but I have not gone wrong yet using RS advice, and that goes for about 8 different countries' worth of hotel recs! I would advise you to get the Florence book and look at the suggestions so you can choose what sounds best for your family. Best wishes!

If there's a hotel that interests you, and you can't find information about triples online, just e-mail them directly and ask for a "room for 3 people" (don't say "triple room" as they may think you want a multi-room suite, or multiple rooms). Many places have them.

Side note: My first trip to Italy was in 1989, long before I had heard of Rick Steves, and I was traveling without hotel reservations. In Florence I stayed for 6 nights at Pensione La Scaletta, which has been in Rick's books for years. Since I was a walk-in, the only room left for my first night was a triple. Here's their website: http://www.hotellascaletta.it/. I see they've renovated since 1989, but they still have triples (and even larger rooms). The location is good, just over the Ponte Vecchio from the center. On a random date, I see the triple is €174 per night (not sure how much the rates fluctuate, but that's way below your limit).

Thank you all for the suggestions.
Harold, or any other readers, are there disadvantages to staying on the other side of the Ponte Vecchio?

The only disadvantage of staying on the Oltrarno (other side of Ponte Vecchio) is that after walking on the bridge many times eventually you will fall into the temptation of spending a lot of money on one of the jewelries on the bridge.

Other than that, it is by far the best area of Florence and La Scaletta is a superb hotel (they also have apartments across the street). Actually they have a roof bar/restaurant with the best one hundred million 360 degree view of Florence. Make sure you get a table on the torretta (little tower).

We stayed at Hotel Nuova two years ago in July. We had no problems finding rooms with a triple in Rome, Florence, Venice or Naples. I sent emails to the hotels.

Sounds like you have plenty of good advice. I start by circling every book listing that mentions a triple with bath (Tb), then contacting several, usually starting with the cheapest.
