Greetings fellow travelers,
My plan was to arrive in Florence Oct 2 thru the 5th. This would have been our 5th time in Florence, so somewhat familiar with the layout. We love Florence, but sadly, I have waited a bit long to obtain a hotel, possibly, that I am comfortable with, in my budget. Sent an email to Palazzo Riblet and they never responded, so makes me hesitant to do business. Hotel Pendini is booked. Hotel Davanzanti ,where we stayed last time,is a bit out of my price range this time. Budget under 250 US/night. Any suggestions? Also. I am open to another town/city that fits into my itinerary. Arrive MXP on the 2nd... Nothing booked till the 5th in the Cinque Terre for 3 nights, then, on to Genoa before heading home. We've spent more than enough time in Milan, so no interest in that. Thanks for any input.
If you are open to Siena, we really liked B & B Alle Due Porte. http://www.sienatur.it/
Sent an email to Palazzo Riblet...
Sounds like an Italian version of Applebee's.
Sorry that I don't have anything of value to offer you, Christy, but thanks for the chuckle! :O)
Actually I did have a suggestion but it's sadly booked.
Using Booking.com I entered your dates (3 nights) then filtered for hotels only (no apartments or bnb), in the historical center only, and also filtered for $250 night or less. Almost 100 properties came up, many with stellar reviews.
Hotel Torre Guelfa might meet your budget, depending on which type of room you choose.
Thanks all..
Roberto, thanks for clueing me in to that tool on Booking.. I have been browsing in Booking but had missed that tool.
If you expand to apartments, B&B, you'll come up with more hits too.
I may not know the property personally, but I can tell you if a street is noisier (more traffic, including foot traffic) than others. Just ask when you find something.
Also realize that they don't put all their rooms in Booking.com (or Hotels.com or others). In some cases they reserve some rooms to their website only, so you might need to look for availability individually.
Did you look at convent stays?
try the convent stay. Casa per Ferie … Borgo Pinti. Well below your budget, great location. Just spent 3 nights there on our second visit. Book thru monasterystays.com or email direct ( cheaper )
Thanks to all who commented. I booked Albergo Firenze.
Does it have to be a hotel? Our last stay in Florence (last May) was in a gorgeous apartment set in the Martin Lutero garden fronting the Arno River (at Ponte alle Grazie). Breakfast included, with balcony views. Easily the best stay I've ever had in Florence. Reasonably priced, spacious, and the host was wonderful. Been traveling regularly to Europe for 30+ years and I always default to apartments now, only book hotels when have to.
Check out The Hotel Balesteri, it is on the Arno.
Don't know the property itself, but the location of the Albergo Firenze is great. You have a couple of great restaurants there as well, like Trattoria del Pennello and of course the Trattoria dell'Oste steakhouse (not cheap however). Very central to everything, and it should be quiet as no cars are allowed there (there is Pennello there that has sidewalk tables but they close by 11pm)
