My adult daughter and I will be staying in Florence for 3 nights in April, 2018.
Trying to decide between staying in the Oltrarno neighborhood or other side of the river closer to the Duomo.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks for your ideas!
Both are good, Oltrarno may be less crowded than the area near the Duomo. I try to stay near the Duomo but on a side street.
I used this to help decide what area to stay:

If you put this: breakdown of areas to stay in florence into a google search you can find further info on areas to stay & choose to you & your daughters interests.
Here's another take on Florence neighborhoods: http://www.eurocheapo.com/florence/hoods/
I lived most of my life Diladdarno (on the other side of the Arno) and that is where I'd stay.
But do,you know of a specific place already?
I prefer the area around the San Lorenzo market, as it's relatively close to Firenze SMN as well as the Duomo and other sites.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I'll take a look at all the areas you've mentioned before deciding. We've looked at Hotel David in Oltrarno...a friend has stayed at Hotel River.
Any knowledge of those?
Hotel David is not inside the historical center and you will need either a long walk or catch the bus from Piazza Ferrucci to get to the city center.
