florence hotels and/or apartment

Robin, not quite sure what the definition of moderate is, as I guess it is relative. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti in Florence. It is a Rick Steves favorite and is featured in one of his Italy videos. I don't think I have ever met nicer hoteliers in all of my travels. So check them out and see if they are within your budget.

I've found many, many good websites for planning rooms in Florence. Just Google "Florence Hotels." The number of available hotels and B&B's is incredible everywhere in Tuscany. I've had best luck @ Booking.com and Airbnb.com. Airbnb.com especially is good to book you into individuals' houses. You can also find them on the web, Google the hotel and dial them directly. I checked with some popular rooms mentioned in Graffiti Wall, but they can get just a little expensivejust out of my price range.

In October we stayed 2 nights (Fri. and Sat.)at Hotel Accademia located on Via Faenza and in a great location. It is a very easy walk from the train station too. We paid 150 Euros/night, inclu. breakfast for a huge triple room for myself, my sister and her daughter who is studying abroad in Rome for semester. This seemed like a very good price to me but I booked this room on Oct. 6 for our stay on Oct. 14 and 15. Seemed like the prices listed in the R.S. book were higher. On our last visit to FLorence I rented an apt. through vrbo.com but we were here for 5 nights then.

Residenza Il Villino is fantastic the family who runs the place is wonderful
it's super clean, great breakfast, good location
