Florence hotels, again

Has anyone stayed at the Florence Old Bridge b and b, or any hotel on the Oltarno side? It is quieter, only a short walk to the sights, and more locals live on that side.

We stayed one night at Hotel la Scaletta (in the RS Italy guide). I thought they were extremely accommodating-they prepared "bagged breakfasts" for our group of eleven because we had early reservations at the Uffizi and I guess breakfast wasn't served until 7:30. The rooms (we had 2 quads and a triple) were quite large, although the bathrooms were small. Elevator was also small and it was about 100 steps to get to the hotel. With a small group it wouldn't matter, but with eleven we never took the time for everyone to take the elevator! I have read a couple of bad reviews of this hotel, but our experience was great.

Leslie, last December we stayed at Istituto Gould and loved it..especially when you see the prices!

It was in a very charming ancient building, run by the Protestant Church to fund charities to for disadvantaged children. It was very clean and in a nice neighborhood We always enjoyed the lovely walk across the river.

Hello Leslie,
My wife, myself and our 11 year old son stayed two nights at Hotel La Scaletta in early October.
We were treated quite well and the staff was very accomidating. From storing my oversize bicycle travel bag to calling cabs to reserving tickets for the accademia and Uffizi. The staff was great. We liked the location as we were a stones throw from the Ponte Vecchio. Get the room with the Boboli garden view, its quieter.
Regards,
David
