Can anyone offer a suggestion on hotels in Florence? We are interested in a small hotel (say 10 rooms or less) preferably in the Oltarno, but would be flexible on location. Any info appreciated, thanks.
We loved the Hotel Balesteri that is on the Arno in a great location. It is a small hotel, but has more than 10 rooms. Rates are very reasonable.

check casarabatti.it small apartments with a terrace outside.
cross-pollinate.com has different places and areas to check out, some B&B's, guesthouses, apartments. read very carefully about places and fine print, sharing restrooms or kitchens with others, accept credit cards or cash, if a minimum of days to stay, early checkin or luggage hold.

Take a look at La Casa del Garbo - we've stayed there twice and loved it. Their website is www.casadelgarbo.it/ and it's located right in front of Palazzo Vecchio. Very comfortable rooms, helpful staff and terrific location. You can book directly on their website.
Hotel Casci - great location, staff and breakfast. Rooms were spacious for Italy
Another recommendation for Hotel Casci -- great location!
Not in Oltrarno, but Hotel il Bargellino is a 10-room hotel with a great terrace and nice owners. I've stayed there multiple times and like it.
We stayed at the Hotel Palazzo Guadagni last fall. It had a lot of character and we were very comfortable. It's probably larger than 10 rooms but the layout keeps it from feeling that way. One caveat - if you are relying on good/fast internet access, you may want to plan ahead (bring a mobile hot spot) or look elsewhere; the thick walls meant the wifi was extremely unreliable. But other than that, we had a lovely experience and would stay there again.
I liked the Hotel Silla, close to the river. Nice terrace, park in front, very good breakfast, nearby dining choices. But you may be sharing it with a Rick Steves tour group. (Worse things could happen.)
Thanks everybody for your suggestions.
