Florence Hotel

Hello.
I am seeking a nice hotel in the main area of Florence. It's for April 2023 but so many are fully booked already. My budget will allow for under 140 euros/night. I stayed on via Calzaiouli in the past, which was a perfect location. (That hotel, Hotel Biagallo, is closed for renovations. Wonderful staff and very comfortable.)

My new RS Italy 2022 books lists many that are already sold out or above my humble means.
Your recommendations are most appreciated.
Thanks.

You may want to contact the hotel you are interested directly. Many may have not put out their availability yet for the new year. Also even if showing the hotel is not available on third party booking sites the hotel often has availability if contacted directly.

I stayed 2 nights in the Hotel Cavallieri on Via la Scala, in September.
It’s on booking.com.
I loved it : old world type service, so clean, and lovely staff.
I would recommend it.

We stayed at Hotel Davanzati in July. https://www.hoteldavanzati.it/
Great location, clean nice room, delicious breakfast. You do have to walk up stairs though. In the RS book. I would contact the hotel directly.

Not sure about their current rates, but check out Hotel California -- yep, that's the name. One can walk to anywhere from there. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Are you traveling alone and don't mind basic accommodations? I stayed at the Florence convent, that is not too far from the train station. It is mentioned in Rick Steves book or there is a link to the available convents from the Rome section. It was clean, quiet, in a safe area and basic. No breakfast and there is a curfew. 15 minute walk to the Duomo and train station. I didn't mind it, because I don't spend a lot of time in the room. My room looked over the central courtyard.

Yes, Hotel Cavallieri has AC.
I didn’t need it this past September, but it’s there.
If you look at photos of hotels and apartments, you can usually see a white rectangular box/machine above a door or window.
Those are the AC/heating units.

Hotel Il Bargellino. Rick Steves' recommendation. I stayed there twice,. Lovely rooms and Carmela and Pino are great too!

I've had good luck with quirky European hostel rooms when I'm trying to stretch my dollars. I'm a bit longer in the tooth for the dorms, but many have private rooms that can make a trip affordable. Admittedly, it's a personal preference. Hostelworld.com and hostelz.com are a couple of sites I've used.

Have a great trip!

I will second Hotel il Bargellino, and I also agree that Carmel and Pino are wonderful hosts; we loved our stay there and would stay again. I also recommend contacting them directly, which is how we booked. A/C is available in some rooms for a surcharge. We were there in early June, had a/c and used it. It was an easy walk to from the train station, and we walked everywhere, everyday, and enjoyed the terrace every night with a view of the duomo. Sorry--over use of the word "every"...but you get the idea.
