Florence Hotel Choice

We are planning a week-long visit to Florence and have it narrowed down to a few hotels, based on RS guides, Trip Advisor, booking.com etc. They are: The Hotel Davanzati, Hotel Scaletta and the Hotel Pendini. Does anyone have any experience with these hotels (or other recommendations)? Thanks!

We spent a week in Florence a few years ago at the Hotel Allesandra-fantastic location, beautiful rooms and wonderful staff. We felt at home there.

We stayed at Hotel La Scaletta when in Florence last October and are returning there this fall too. Great location, just over the Ponte Vecchio, then about a three minute walk. Quick to get to all the highlights of Florence and located in the Oltrano neighborhood, so many interesting shops and restaurants close by. Hotel was great, lovely large room, actually had a sitting area and separate bedroom - superior room, I believe. Very quiet as we faced the Boboli gardens. Staff highly professional and friendly. Very good breakfast, would definitely recommend.

Our first choice was the Davanzati, but it was booked; so we ended up at the Hotel Alessandra. We absolutely loved everything about it, even the steps! We needed the exercise.

The Alessandra is ideally located. Our room was huge and the included breakfast was fine. But the staff was the highlight. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on. Our plans were pretty much set before we arrived in Florence, so we didn't ask them for any sightseeing help.

I only know La Scaletta, and I recommend it for both location and million dollar view from the rooftop bar/restaurant.

Have you considered renting an apartment? I have stayed at La Terraza al Duomo, 50 steps from the Duomo. Very quiet at night. Wonderful host, Alessandro. Stylish 1 bedroom with a terrace at a reasonable price. Information can be found on Airbnb or FlipKey. I am staying there again in November.

We always stay now at La Scaletta and thoroughly enjoy everything about it and I second all the great comments above. I can't even tell you how many times we've stayed there since 2001!
