We stayed at La Scaletta and loved it - the breakfasts on the terrace overlooking the city were wonderful and you were so close to everything !
We have also stayed at Torre Guelfa and enjoyed wine on their tower as we watched the sun set over the city.

I enjoyed the Hotel degli Orafi. It's right on the Arno. It's near the Ponte Vecchio. And the staff were super nice to me as a solo traveler.
