Florence help needed

A few questions. 1) We are considering taking a train to FI.RIFR. What is the approximate cost of a taxi to the Westin Excelsior (approx 5 KM away)? 2) We would arrive in Florence at 12:17. We are considering trying to do the Uffizi & Academia in the same afternoon. If we arrange for tickets in advance, how much time do we need to plan for waiting in lines to pick up the tickets? Specifically, we are arriving by train at 12:17 PM. We figure we will get to the hotel, eat lunch and be ready to go to the Academia at 2:30ish. How much time do we need to see David and a few other highlights before heading to the Uffizi (IE what time to reserve for the Uffizi and how long do we need to anticipate the lines if we are reserving ahead of time)? Thanks in advance.

Have you looked into the closing times of each location. I wouold allow one and half hours at the accademia and three hours minimum inside the Uffizi. The line to get tickets was not very long when we were there june 2010 so maybe three and half hours. @0 minute walk between the two. sounds like around five and half hours give or take. Your 2:30 time sounds close. so that would make it around 8 pm if they are open that late. Otherwise do the accademia and the duomo and the duomo museum first day

That could work if you can get reservation times to line up ok. Shouldn't have line problems with reservations. Just arrive within 15 mins of your time. At the Acc you will be allowed to enter at or about the assigned time. Once in, you stop at a ticket window and exchange your printout for tickets. No more than 5 mins. Uffizi you go to a door for reserved tickets, exchange your printout for tickets, then walk across the courtyard to the door to entry with reserved tickets. Then you go straight in at assigned time. 5-10 mins to get your ticket. Academia is doable is an hour. I'd call it more like a 15-20 min walk to Uffizi.

I've always tried not to do two major museums in one day. While the Accademia is doable in an hour and a half, the Uffizzi will definitely take longer. I think you might find it overload if you try to do the two museums in one day. However, if you only have one day then it's a different story.
