Florence Guides vs Hotel to reserve Uffizzi and Academia

Is reserving Uffizzi and Academia with our hotel dependable? Otherwise we're considering a private guide or small tour a City Walk which includes the Uffizzi tickets. We'd then do the Academia on our own. We're undecided and need to book soon. This is for myself, husband and 18 year old son. Thanks for feedback.

I agree: email your hotel to arrange your David and Uffizzi tickets, in advance. But I would also take one of the two-hour walking tours of Florence RS mentions in his Italy and Florence books. Well worth it!

Hi Norma
We visited Florence in August and stayed at Hotel Albani. They reserved tickets for us and it was absolutely dependable. The asked us to pay for the tickets in cash upon check-in, which we did. At the Uffizzi, You take the voucher to a booth for advanced purchase tickets, which only had a couple of people in line. They provide you with a ticket and you go to another area for ticket holders.
Very easy. The Academia was even easier. We also bought the audio tour, which was also very reasonable and easy to use. You buy this at the gallery itself, not booked ahead as they have ample.

Thanks for your HELPFUL replies! We're now decided! Hotel tickets, 2 hr walking tour and the audio is a great suggestion.
