Florence - free museum days in November

Hi,

We're planning to visit the Uffizi the afternoon of Wednesday November 6 (which is a free day) and the Accademia the morning of Thursday November 7 (which is free the whole week).

Does anyone have experience with how busy either museum will be?

Given the time of year and that it's the middle of the week, I'm hoping it won't be too bad, but I'm just hoping to hear what to expect!

Thanks!

Florence seems to be increasingly busy all year.
It probably will be too busy on a free day to enjoy the museums.

Seriously, the last place you want to be is at the Uffizi on a “free day”.
Is Wed your only day available to visit?
Your spending thousands of dollars on a trip. Please don’t try to be Penny wise while being Pound foolish. Saving money on museum “free days” is a very expensive waste of your time.

Lines at the Uffizi are generally quite long all day on free days, even in November. If you're in Florence for several days and are willing to wait patiently in line, then go for it. Otherwise, bite the bullet and buy a reserved entry time for another day. By contrast, I've had good luck getting fairly quickly into the Accademia late afternoon, especially if it's raining.

I live part of the year in Florence and last year I took the opportunity of the free museums to visit the Bargello muséum and there was not too many people. At Pitti muséum, just near my apartment, there was no queue. I do not know about the Accademia or Uffizi.
