My husband and I will be traveling to Florence in November. We would like to take a few day trips to hilltop towns since we have 9 days to explore. What towns would be lovely. We are interested more in peaceful and charming places. I read that Luca is wonderful! We also want to go to Montepulciano for a wine tasting!

Do you have nine days total for Tuscany? For example, can you stay in Florence a few days and a few days in a smaller town?
Are you intending to use a private driver, or are you looking for something on the train or bus line?

Siena and Lucca are the 2 easiest by train.
Our favorite town is Montepulciano but that is a bit far for a day trip and would require a car.
You might consider 2 bases, 1 in Florence, another in Val D’Orcia area ( with a car)
