How does the advanced reservation entry time/appointment work at the Accademia and Uffizi? What if you miss your appointment time? Is it like a "fast pass" at Disney World--you can't get in before your time, but you can enter anytime after your entry time? And how far in advance should we make our reservations? if you miss your time you are out of luck unless you are buying a Firenze card you should absolutely make reservations in advance to avoid wasting a lot of time standing in line
many hotels will make the reservations for you

I've seen the line wrapped halfway around the block in the hot sun trying to get into the Accademia in Florence. You really want the assigned entry times.
