I'm heading to Florence in March, and while doing some research I found a tour that takes you up to the outdoor North and South terraces of the Duomo. The tour is with Ciao Florence and includes a 72 hour skip the line ticket for the Duomo complex, as well as a ticket for the Duomo climb. I am only interested in the tour of the Cathedral itself along with the 135 step climb to the terraces, not going the rest of the way to the top of the dome itself. It sounds like exactly something I'd be interested in (and not something I've heard much about?) but it is quite expensive at 99 euro/person.
Does anyone have any experience with touring the terraces with the Duomo's guide, but not necessarily through a tour company per se? It sounds like quite the experience but also seems quite expensive.
Thoughts?
