I understand the Duomo Museum is closed with works by Michelango and Donatello for renovations until Novenber. Is this where the David statue is located and will it also be unavailable to view?

No, the David sculpture you're thinking of is at the Accademia (Galleria dell'Accademia), not the Duomo Museum.
The Accademia is closed Mondays.

No, Michelangelo's statue of David is located in The Accademia Gallery.
You need to make advance reservations (at least a few days before) or wait in a long line, depending on when you plan to be there.
