Florence Duomo combo ticket questions

According to the "What's New in Italy", there is now a combo-ticket available for the Duomo-related sites. I have looked around a bit and have some questions about how this works. There is relatively little information online that I can find since this is a new offering.

  • Does the combo ticket allow you to skip the line for the dome climb?
  • Since the dome is open earlier (8:30 am) than the church (10 am) does the pre-purchased ticket allow you to climb the dome anytime it's open, without visiting a separate place to validate the ticket?
  • If I understand the ticket correctly, it is good for entry within 6 days of the selected ticket date (then there's a 24 hour window to visit the sights). Thus, it seems that a good strategy is to select the day I arrive in Florence as the ticket date, as I will only be there for 3 days. So even if I don't go on the day I arrive, the ticket will be good for my entire visit. Is this true?

Thanks in advance!
