Florence Duomo Climb Question

We climbed Giotto's Bell Tower two years ago when we were in Florence. This trip, we want to climb the Duomo. For those that have done both, is the climb similar. Are the steps as steep and the passageway narrow? Is it a constant climb or can you break anywhere along the journey? Thanks in advance

Done both. Giotto is a typical Italian tower, and i've climbed most of them, and its very straight forward. The Dome is different. It is very slippy if it has rained. Passage is narrow in certain places. Everything is cocked to one side as you are walking up a spiral with slanting walls. Orientation can be difficult and there are zones one could fall badly. There are a couple places to rest. One is on the gattway (sp) that lets you see the interior of the dome. The other is an intersection where people going up and down meet, there is a small area to rest at there with low railings. The Duomo is probably the most difficult climb we have ever encountered in Italy. Its doable for most people, just take your time, wear good grippy shoes and stop if you get dizzy. The view is worth it.
