Florence day trip recommendation

We have only 4 days in Florence to explore that area and do not have a car. Any recommendations for a small group tour that would give us the best taste of Tuscany? Would you suggest doing a group tour that tries to see sienna/san gimignano/Pisa in one day such as viator's large group or a smaller tour that does just one or two areas? Please give specific tours/groups if you have experienced a very good one. Thanks

Whichever group you take, or even if you do it on your own using public transportation (trains and/or bus), which is actually very easy, you can hardly do Siena+San Gimignano+Pisa in one day. They aren't even in the same direction from Florence.
You can either do Siena+San Gimignano (SG is about in between Siena and Florence) or you do Pisa + Lucca (both are on the same area of Tuscany). You could also do them all but in two separate trips.

We leave in one month, we are staying about 45 minute train ride from Florence. I suggest the bus to Siena for the day. You get to see the countryside and relax while you ride. The trains will take you to the coast Viareggio, Lucca or even Cinque Terra. Or south to a nice town. Pistoia is close too. I have seen several groups with tours, in my opinion you can spend your money wiser. Have an adventure, enjoy yourselves.

Check out WALKABOUT FLORENCE - www.walkaboutflorence.com

They BEST OF TUSCANY TOUR . . . it hits all the places you mention. It is also #1 on TripAdvisor - you can read lots of reviews. They also have some other tours that are interesting to us. We haven't been, but we plan on booking a couple when we go in October.
