Florence Day Trip June 12

We will doing a day trip to Florence from Rome on June 12. Is it best to get tickets for Uffizi and Accademia on the website now or do a day tour through viator or the company Rick Steves recommends in his Florence book - www.artviva.com? What would be the best way to make most of the day in Florence?

I don't think there's just one right answer to your question, but the good news is there's probably no wrong answer either. It's more a matter of your preferred travel style. Do you want to visit as many churches and museums and see as much art as possible? Do you want to spend most of your time wandering the streets and taking it all in? Do you want to do the climb to the top of the cathedral dome? Or to the top of the campanile? Do you want to get away from the main tourist area and see other parts of the city? Do you prefer to be guided through a museum and a city or to wander at your own pace and with your own guidebook?

You can easily see Florence on a self-guided tour, hitting the highlights that matter most to you, if that suits you.

I'd suggest making a list of the things you are most eager to see and do during your day in Florence. Then determine whether any of the tours provide value and convenience and fit your style.
