Florence crowds October

We will be in Florence Oct 3,4. How heavy will crowds be for attractions?

If one of the days is Monday, about half the museums will be closed. That will mean more visitors at the ones that are open.

Took my daughter to Florence for 4 days last year in October. VERY crowded. Took my son for a day trip from Bologna and the line to climb to the top of the Duomo was impossible.

Expect crowds. Get to the sight you want to see early in the day, and hope for the best, then just enjoy.

Make reservations through your hotel for "skip the line" if you want to get into the museums, etc.

Florence is a zoo from about April through October and then merely crowded. It is a tiny historic center with some of the most rich and dense artistic treasures in the world and everyone wants to go there. We now stay out past Porta Romana when we visit.

we just left Florence and yes, it was very crowded. we were there for 3 nights. if you are going to be there on the 4th, a few of the biggies will be free as the first sunday of every month they were. we did acadmia and a few others on that free sunday as this past sunday it was free as well. lines were not too long (about 10-15 min wait for academia).

3+4 October is the weekend - Sat+Sun.
Expect a throng of tourists (and Italians as well).
Book the Academy and Uffizi (perhaps for mid afternoon).
Get to the Duomo early, and consider climbing the campanile for the view of the dome (rather than vice versa).
