Florence Crowds June 2019 during Calcio Storico Fiorentino and Firenzerocks

We plan to be in Florence from June 13-18, 2019. Today I discovered that Firenzerocks, a huge "rock" concert event that brings world famous headline performers and 650,000 attendees to Florence in a 4 day period (June 13-16) will be going on during our visit. How much is this going to effect our enjoyment of the city and day trips we plan to take to Siena and Pisa from the train station?

In addition, the historic Calcio Storico Firoentino games and events occurs during June. I have not been able to find out the dates of the playoffs but it seems that they are usually the second Saturday in June (which is before our arrival) and the finals are on June 24th which is after our departure. My concern is do crowds come to town for these games and stay or are these mostly locals attending this event? The apartment we are looking to rent is in Santa Croce, the area that these games take place. Although we would not be there during the games, will the Santa Croce square still be off limits because of the dirt that they bring in to cover the ground for the games?

We love Florence and don't get to visit very often. I don't want to be caught off guard with longer than usual lines at the train station, restaurants and unbearable crowds, etc.

Do any of you have experience being in Florence during either of these events (Firenzerocks or Calcio Storico Firoentino)?

Thanks for any info.

The crowd of the Firenzerock events is peaceful and quite civilized. You will experience increased car traffic in all the province starting in the early afternoon of each event, and it will be impossible to find a car park within three kilometers. I would expect trains to be also crowded, in the afternoon going to Florence and in the night leaving from Florence. Most people seem not to sleep in the city. Also there will be a moderate increase of crowds in the center as people attending the event may like to visit the city first, but nothing unmanageable.

I've been there for the finals of the Calcio Storico. I was there for a month so I remember a parade at some point that was quite interesting. After the game there was some festivities across the river with the winning team. It seemed more crowded the night of the fireworks for the festa of San Giovanni (patron saint of Florence) which is also toward the end of June and I ran a 10k one evening (La notte di San Giovanni).

Piazza Santa Croce is off limits in that you can't walk through the field while they are setting up but you can certainly walk around the piazza itself. It takes a few days to set up the field.
