I am beginning to plan a trip to italy for early May 2011. I will be attending a workshop in Venice for one week then I have another week where I would like to meet a friend who will fly into Florence where we can spend a few days and then go to Cinque Terre for a few days and perhaps a day tour of Tuscany for future reference. Is this all doable? I am thinking rail travel will be the best? Any recommendations. Thank you in advance.
Sounds perfectly doable. Venice to Florence is an easy train ride and so is Florence to CT. The Florence to CT train trip will require you to change trains. If you are going to spend a day touring tuscany I recommend renting a car for the day.
Thank you Scott. I will consider that, also can anyone recommend a guided day tour from Florence of Tuscany? That may be a good way to get a taste of Tuscany.
Lisa:
Rick Steves has had Roberto on his show and so we booked with Tours By Roberto for a day trip in October. Check his website, toursbyroberto.com, for options. They were super easy to deal with online and you can rent Rick's Tuscany shows to get an idea of Roberto's style.
Thanks, you Portland folks are very helpful! I have been Tivoing Rick Steves' Europe for quite some time but the Italy shows have yet to come up so I just added them to my netflix cue.
Sounds very well-thought-out!
Also, Hulu has 79 Rick Steves episodes available for viewing!
