Looking for good, authentic Italian food and we want to make sure we have reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals. We don't need anything fancy (although we're not against fancy) but we are looking for cozy, friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Not touristy or at least as non-touristy as we can find on a holiday. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

It is good that you are starting to plan now. We found very few restaurants open those nights in London and the same in Rome over New Year’s. With the help of local friends we were able to get reservations for Christmas Eve in London. I assume Florence may present similar issues. Ask your hotel for help. If renting an apartment, look into local caterers with meals available to take out.
