Florence Christmas 2016

Hi! I'm looking for recommendations regarding what to do in Florence during the Christmas holiday. Will be in Florence from 12/19 to 12/28. Especially wondering what to do on the 25th and 26th, since they are both holidays and all will likely be closed. Anything that I should definitely "not miss" would be good to know! Thank you!

Most things will be closed on Xmas day. That includes shops, museums, etc. Italians spend Xmas day with the family for the most part, then going downtown for a stroll window shopping or to the movies is a popular activity in the afternoon (for those who can still get up after those 5 hour multi course luncheons). Some restaurants will be open in the city center and probably some bars/gelaterie. Something you should do on Xmas morning is go to Mass at the Duomo (cathedral) (Xmas eve night too). It's very nice. I understand you may not be Catholic, but I am not religious either, yet I used to go just for the fun of the occasion. It's a free musical show. Several churches may have concerts (organ) too.
